Organisers of the Royal Bank Canada (RBC) Junior Tennis tournament managed to complete all 55 matches at Country Club courts in Maraval on Saturday.
Among the players who recorded first round victories were the Under-14 players James Hadden, the top-seed, who outplayed Jordell Chapman 4-0, 4-2 and number-two seed Kale Dalla Costa, who triumph over Jeremy Rawlins 4-0, 4-0.
The top girl among Under-14s, Christiana Hills defeated Makay La Smith 4-0, 4-0, while in the girls Under-12 there were wins for Shiloh Walker over Kimora-Lee Edwards 4-1, 4-0.
There were also wins for Ailan Panton over Keyan Goodridge 6-0.
Marc Mouttet got the better of Lorenzo Burkett 6-2, also in the boys Under-14, Neil Maraj turned back Jayden Mitchell 4-1, 4-0.
In the girls Under-12, there was successes for Isabelle Allegne over Charde Sylvester 6-3 and Em-Miryam Campbell-Smith stopped Elyse Ferguson 4-2, 4-1 and Gabriella Prince recorded victory against Laura-Li De Gannes Maillard 4-1, 4-0. Earlier, Campbell-Smith was also successful against Edwards, 4-1, 4-0.
Boys' U-12 No 1 seed Daniel Rahaman opened with a win against Gabriel Denoon 4-1, 4-2 while second-seeded Yeshowah Campbell-Smith defeated Juan Jose Ara Gonzalez, 4-1, 4-0.
Fourth-seed Malcom Prince breezed through his two matches on the day, defeating Tashawn Hamlet, 4-0, 4-1 in the first match on Court one and later got the better of Brian Harricharan, 4-0, 4-1.
The tournament which is put on by the Tennis Patrons Academy is the second and final Junior Tournament of 2020, and it has attracted over 160 Junior Players, with over 60 novice players getting involved.
The tournament, which will be run over six days, ends on Thursday.
