Kaveer Ramoutar and Amara Urquhart were crowned Under-19 Singles champions as T&T players secured 13 titles combined when the curtain came down on the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Junior Championships in Barbados, Saturday.
Ramoutar eased to a 21-6, 22-20 win over Jamaican top seed Daniel Forde in the Boys' Under-19 Singles decider while in the Girls' Under-19 title match, Urquhart steamrolled Jamaica's Jade Ranger 21-14, 21-9.
T&T's Jace Smith and T'Shelle Barnes captured the U-19 Mixed Doubles after outplaying Barbadians Nathan King and Xian Trotman 21-18, 21-17 while in the Girls' Doubles in the same age-group, Samiya Karim and Tenniya Tobias combined to hand T&T another title in the same age-group courtesy their 21-14, 20-22, 21-12 defeat of Jamaicans Abigail Harvey and Sue Ann Ogle.
Smith also paired with Dante Homer for victory in the Boys' U-19 Doubles 21-17, 21-12 over Jamaicans Jhevado Ross and Samuel Smith.
Urquhart and Cheyenne Bhola missed out on securing the Girls' U-19 Doubles after a tense loss to Nina Aguer and Emilie Pierre-Jean 13-21, 21-14, 26-24.
Fraser and Issey Samrian denied T&T's Rajkumar and Avari Wells the Boys' U-13 Doubles crown with a 22-20, 16-21, 21-14 triumph.
In the Boys' U-15, top-ranked T&T ace Liam Persad overwhelmed countryman Chikioke Kalu 21-17, 21-16 before the duo combined to top Suriname's Damien Ramkissoon and Roche Ramlal 21-11, 21-15 for the Doubles top spot.
And in the U-15 Mixed Doubles championship encounter, Kalu and Azaria Gaskil topped compatriots Persad and Rishelle Boodoosingh 21-16, 21-17
Gaskil and Tanvi Orie fell one win short of the title in the Girls' U-15 Doubles after going under to C'Ayra Kromosoeto and Synai Zeegelaar 21-15, 11-21, 16-21.
T&T dominated the U-13 Singles, with Liam Rajkumar beating Suriname's Jeremi Fraser 21-7, 21-12 for the title and Asia Lee Waller whipping Suriname's Cheyenne Ramlal 21-8, 21-11.
Rajkumar then paired with Waller to outclass Fraser and Ramlal in the Mixed U-13 Doubles final 21-13, 21-12 while fellow T&T players, Kaia Jan and Waller, took home the Girls Doubles in the same age-group after outlasting Ramlal and Miley Schmeltz 19-21, 21-16, 21-19.
In the Boys and Girls' U-11 Singles, T&T players, Michael Balvin and Devonnye Vincent were both beaten by Barbadians, Lyam Clarke, 19-21, 21-14, 15-21 and Yasmyn Eastmond, 12-21, 9-21, respectively.
However, in the U-11 Mixed Doubles championship match, an all-T&T affair, Balvin and Vincent had much better fortune thanks to their 21-16, 21-17 defeat of Aryan Bhagoutie and Kenaiya Gangoo.
In the Girls' U-11 Doubles, T&T's Vincent and Kenaiya Gangoo came up short in their bid for the title, going under to Suriname's Mc Kaylee De Gama and Amani Kaliden 10-21, 10-21.
