T&T's men's team finished a strong third in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship (CAGC) Hoerman Cup at the Barbados Golf Club in Durants, Christ Church Friday.
The final day of the CAGC saw Team T&T give a valiant effort as both the men’s and women’s teams wrapped up their campaigns in Barbados.
After completing their second round this morning, the men’s team entered the final round in third place. Despite a strong push, they were unable to close the gap on the leaders and finished the tournament in third place overall with a team score of 28 over par, behind Puerto Rico +18 and the Dominican Republic +27.
Top scores for day three from the T&T team came from captain Liam Bryden with 68, Chris Richards Jnr 69, Gabriel Vanososte 75 and Ryan Gomez 77.
A standout performance came from Richards Jnr, who was crowned the "Best Individual Player" of the tournament, finishing 1 under par over three days..
In the women’s division, after completing the weather-delayed second round early this morning, the T&T women teed off for their final round at 10.30 am.
Puerto Rico claimed first place with a team score of 21 over par, Barbados followed in second with +44 and T&T finished in sixth place with a total of +73
The top performers for T&T on the final day were Tori De Freitas-Baptiste with 81 and the youngest team member Isabella Ramdeen with 82, according to a release from the T&T Golf Association (TTGA).
It added: "Despite the result, the team showed resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
"As the championship concludes, the TTGA commends all players, coaches, and support staff for their dedication and sportsmanship. The future of golf in T&T is bright."
