T&T's men's team fin­ished a strong third in the Caribbean Am­a­teur Golf Cham­pi­onship (CAGC) Ho­er­man Cup at the Bar­ba­dos Golf Club in Du­rants, Christ Church Fri­day.

The fi­nal day of the CAGC saw Team T&T give a valiant ef­fort as both the men’s and women’s teams wrapped up their cam­paigns in Bar­ba­dos.

Af­ter com­plet­ing their sec­ond round this morn­ing, the men’s team en­tered the fi­nal round in third place. De­spite a strong push, they were un­able to close the gap on the lead­ers and fin­ished the tour­na­ment in third place over­all with a team score of 28 over par, be­hind Puer­to Ri­co +18 and the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic +27.

Top scores for day three from the T&T team came from cap­tain Liam Bry­den with 68, Chris Richards Jnr 69, Gabriel Vanososte 75 and Ryan Gomez 77.

A stand­out per­for­mance came from Richards Jnr, who was crowned the "Best In­di­vid­ual Play­er" of the tour­na­ment, fin­ish­ing 1 un­der par over three days..

In the women’s di­vi­sion, af­ter com­plet­ing the weath­er-de­layed sec­ond round ear­ly this morn­ing, the T&T women teed off for their fi­nal round at 10.30 am.

Puer­to Ri­co claimed first place with a team score of 21 over par, Bar­ba­dos fol­lowed in sec­ond with +44 and T&T fin­ished in sixth place with a to­tal of +73

The top per­form­ers for T&T on the fi­nal day were Tori De Fre­itas-Bap­tiste with 81 and the youngest team mem­ber Is­abel­la Ramdeen with 82, ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the T&T Golf As­so­ci­a­tion (TTGA).

It added: "De­spite the re­sult, the team showed re­silience and de­ter­mi­na­tion through­out the tour­na­ment.

"As the cham­pi­onship con­cludes, the TTGA com­mends all play­ers, coach­es, and sup­port staff for their ded­i­ca­tion and sports­man­ship. The fu­ture of golf in T&T is bright."
