T&T crick­eters suf­fered their first loss at the Bo­li­var­i­an Games, when they went un­der to ri­vals Bar­ba­dos at the Li­ma Po­lo Club in Bas­ni Be­li­ma, Pe­ru Fri­day.

Bar­ba­dos were sent in to bat first and post­ed 150/5 from their 20 overs, the high­est to­tal scored against T&T at the Games so far.

​Shi­an Brath­waite scored 63 not out from 58 balls, which in­clud­ed sev­en fours and two six­es, and was sup­port­ed by cap­tain Gio­vante De­peiza, who scored 20 runs from 13 balls. The Bar­ba­di­ans got added sup­port from Ten­nyson Roach (18) and Ed­win Cur­ren­cy Bar­nett (16).

Damion Joachim con­tin­ued his good form with the ball with fig­ures of 2 for 33, and was sup­port­ed by Teshawn Cas­tro, who took 2 for 12. Left-arm pac­er Shaaron Lewis al­so took one wick­et for 26 runs.

​In re­ply, T&T crick­eters were in ear­ly trou­ble, slump­ing to 27/4 in the sev­enth over, with Kamil Pooran, Leonar­do Julien, Teshawn Cas­tro, and Kyle Ramdin all back in the pavil­ion.

De­journ Charles then took things in­to his own hands and scored a 29-ball 39 that in­clud­ed two fours and two six­es. He was sup­port­ed by cap­tain Vikash Mo­han, who made 27 with two bound­aries.

Mikkel Govia was the on­ly oth­er bats­man who scored in dou­ble fig­ures as the twin-is­land Re­pub­lic were bowled out for 116 in 19.4 overs to hand Bar­ba­dos the 34-run vic­to­ry to win their first match of the Games. T&T opened the com­pe­ti­tion with wins against hosts Pe­ru and Ja­maica on Thurs­day.

The women's team was in win­ners’ row to­day, beat­ing Ja­maica by eight wick­ets. Ja­maica scored 58 all out in 18.5 overs. Spin­ner Sama­ra Ram­nath took 4 for 11 to lead the bowl­ing at­tack. Then, Brit­ney Coop­er scored 33 not out as T&T Women won in the ninth over. On Thurs­day, the women's unit al­so won its open­ing match­es against Ja­maica (by sev­en wick­ets) and Bar­ba­dos (by 108 runs).
