The T&T Ta­ble Ten­nis As­so­ci­a­tion (TTT­TA) would like to take this op­por­tu­ni­ty to re­spond to some of the con­cerns raised and your read­ers’ in­ter­est with re­gards to my sport. Our lo­cal ta­ble ten­nis play­ers’ rank­ing list as at Ju­ly 2018.

Men’s Cat­e­go­ry

1. Aaron Wil­son - 19 years (World Rank­ing 565 in May 2018)

2. Yu­vraaj Dookram - 27 years (World Rank­ing 1071 in May 2018)

3. Arun Roop­nar­ine - 20 years (World Rank­ing 511 in May 2018)

4. Cur­tis Humphreys - 34 years (No World Rank­ing but cur­rent Na­tion­al Men’s Sin­gles Cham­pi­on)

Women’s Cat­e­go­ry

1. Brit­tany Joseph - 20 years (No World Rank­ing)

2. Cather­ine Spicer - 22 years (World Rank­ing 505 in May 2018)

3. Aleena Ed­wards - 37 years (No World Rank­ing)

4. Lin­da Par­tap-Bood­han - 42 years (No World Rank­ing)

In the past two years, all these play­ers main­tained their lo­cal rank­ings with some changes due to Tour­na­ment plac­ings.

Dex­ter St. Louis (50 years) - World Rank 847 in May 2018

Rheann Chung (34 years) - World Rank 427 in May 2018

Both of these play­ers do not ap­pear in the lo­cal rank­ing be­cause they have not par­tic­i­pat­ed in any lo­cal tour­na­ments since 2016. This is a manda­to­ry step in the se­lec­tion process.

It should al­so be not­ed that on the In­ter­na­tion­al Ta­ble Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion (IT­TF) World Rank­ing an­oth­er play­er, David Ma­habir, was ranked at 717.

The rat­i­fi­ca­tion of the team for the CAC Games falls strict­ly on the T&T Olym pic Com­mit­tee (TTOC) since the T&T TTA would have sub­mit­ted the se­lect­ed play­ers and their jus­ti­fi­ca­tion.
