TTOC names Pan Am team for Santiago 2023

The T&T Olympic Com­mit­tee (TTOC) has named the na­tion­al team who will com­pete at the Pan Amer­i­can Games, from Oc­to­ber 20 to No­vem­ber 5 in San­ti­a­go, Chile.

Head­ing the 100-mem­ber team which in­cludes 64 ath­letes and 36 of­fi­cials is the 2019 Pan Am gold medal­list in the men's sprint event, cy­clist Nicholas Paul and fel­low rid­er Te­niel Camp­bell, the reign­ing dou­ble sil­ver medal­list (road race and time tri­al).

The oth­er mem­bers of the cy­cling team are Alexi Cos­ta, Ak­il Camp­bell, Kwe­si Browne, and Zion Puli­do.

T&T will be rep­re­sent­ed in 12 sport­ing dis­ci­plines in­clud­ing ath­let­ics, bas­ket­ball 3x3, cy­cling, swim­ming, bad­minton, box­ing, ca­noe, golf, gym­nas­tics, field hock­ey, ta­ble ten­nis and weight lift­ing.

A strong six-mem­ber ath­let­ics team will fea­ture at San­ti­a­go 2023 which in­cludes 2018 Com­mon­wealth Games women's 100m cham­pi­on Michelle Lee-Ahye, and Kyle Greaux and Jerod El­cock, who won sil­ver at Li­ma 2019 as part of the 4x100m team.

Nikoli Black­man, who re­cent­ly copped sil­ver in the men's 50m freestyle event at the World Aquat­ics Ju­nior Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships in Ne­tanya, Is­rael, is part of the swim team which in­cludes fel­low ris­ing star Zarek Wil­son and ex­pe­ri­enced Cherelle Thomp­son.

Sta­cy San­tana, the ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fi­cer at the TTOC, will lead the T&T del­e­ga­tion as Chef De Mis­sion. She first served as Chef at the first-ever Caribbean Games last year in Guade­loupe. San­tana will be as­sist­ed by Jariel Mc Collin with Melanie Gul­ston, serv­ing as press at­tache.

The med­ical staff con­sists of Chief Med­ical Of­fi­cer Rudranath Ram­sawak, Doc­tor Rhon­da Watkins, an Olympian, phys­io­ther­a­pists Karielle De Bique and Je­lani Bap­tiste and three mas­sage ther­a­pists Brent El­der, Odessa Chan­dler and Derek Ash­by-Williams.
