Elisha Greene Jr and Annelyse Watson were crowned national champions in the tinymites division when the T&T Cycling Federation held its National Road Race Championships at the Brian Lara Boulevard on Sunday.
Watson, representing Madonna Wheelers, stopped the clock at 55:04.13 to raise her hands in triumph. Meanwhile, Greene stormed home in 46:13.45 to claim the boys' title, followed by Reon Sheppard of Rigtech Sonics in second place, and Tyler La Foucade of Hummingbird International Club in third.
Seven riders were scheduled to face the starter in the boys' tinymites division, but Josiah Modeste failed to start. However, his absence did not dull the contest fans expected from a star-studded lineup that also featured Recardo Titte (Vapor Wake Multi Sport), Zaphaniah Alexander-Smith, and Samuel Joseph.
Much like Greene, Watson dominated her race from start to finish, comfortably beating Mia Ballantyne of Team Colesafety, who took second, while Damaya Prince of Vapor Wake Multi Sport secured the bronze medal.
