West Indies Women will need a big effort against Thailand Women today if they are to qualify for the Women’s World Cup.

LAHORE – To stand any chance of qualifying for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, West Indies Women must register a huge win over minnows Thailand in their final World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan on Saturday morning.

After a disappointing start to the tournament where they lost their opening match to Scotland before being soundly whipped by Pakistan, the regional side will need a string of results to go their way if they are to claim one of the two qualifying spots on offer for the Women’s World Cup, which will bowl off in September in India.

Ireland Women did them a favour by knocking Scotland out of contention by defeating them by one wicket in a thrilling contest on Friday.

As it currently stands, West Indies Women are fifth in the standings on four points with two wins and two losses, the same as Ireland and Scotland, who have played all their matches.

However, the West Indies have an unhealthy net run rate (NRR) of -0.283.

Pakistan have won all four of their matches and are on eight points, with Bangladesh in second position on six points.

With unbeaten Pakistan having already clinched one of the two spots, West Indies Women will need a massive win over the winless Thailand side, and hope that Pakistan also defeat Bangladesh handily in their final match.

Bangladesh have a NRR of 1.033 and could still advance even if they lose and West Indies win, once it is not by a large margin.
