The team of Adam Wyatt and Liev Khan captured the Under-10 Boys Doubles title at the Methanol Trinidad Ltd Junior Tennis Tournament at the Trinidad Country Club yesterday.
The pair took care of Brian Harricharan and Rizwaan Mohammed in two sets 5-2, 4-1 in the final, much to the delight of the fans that made their way to the venue. The crown was also a second for Wyatt who triumphed in the boys singles last week.
Also yesterday the team of Alex Chin, the u-12 singles champion, and James Hadden qualified for the final of the boys u-12 doubles, wrestling the final spot from the hands Isaiah Boxhill and Callum Koylass in the semi-finals 4-1, 5-4 and 7-5 in the tie-break.
They will now await the winners of the other semi-final between the combined team of Kale Dalla Costa and Marcus West who will face the pair of Jardel Chapman and Massiah Permell next weekend.
In another doubles play-off, Brianna Harricharan and Eva Pasea will today take on the team of Sophi Abraham and Shiloh Walker in the u-10 girls' doubles.
Harricharan, the winner of the singles will also be attempting to secure her second title of the tournament, and yesterday she was in good form alongside an equally talented Pasea, in dismissing the pair of Olivier Henderson and Kate Broughton in straights sets 4-0, 4-0 in the first of two semi-final matches.
In the other semis, Abraham and Walker received a walk-over victory at the expense Gabrielle Print and Maryam Smith, the daughter of former Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Darryl Smith.
