T&T's Moriba Morain put in another creditable performance on the third day of the sixth IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championship in Sudtirol, Italy yesterday to qualify for the semifinal round of the Men's 200 metres. After reaching the final of the men's 100m, where he placed eighth on Thursday, Morain clocked a time of 21.77 seconds to finish second in heat three. Ahead of Morain, who is T&T's only representative in the event, was China's Xiang Huang in 21.77 with India's Amiya Kumar Mallick placing third in 22.25 but failing to qualify for the next round.
T&T's Elton Walcott was also in competition yesterday in the Men's Triple Jump. Walcott placed eighth in the second of two heats to qualify for the final of the event as one of the losers with the best overall mark of 14.86m. The winner of Walcott's heat was Jos� Adri�n Sornoza of Ecuador with a leap of 15.32m with Hamad Abdulla Al Doseri of Bahrain (15.23) second and Gregor Traber (15.19) of Germany third. Walcott and Morain will be in action in the final and semifinal of their respective events today.
