Jomal Williams scored a first-half double to lead T&T Under-17 footballers to a 2-1 win over Bermuda and a spot in the Concacaf Final Round quialifiers, after topping the Caribbean Football Union Group E qualifiers yesterday.
Playing in the second-match of a double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Williams fired T&T ahead in the 23rd minute and doubled the lead five minutes before the interval for a 2-0 cushion at the break.
A minute into the second-half, Zeiko Lewis pulled a goal back for Bermuda but the Dario Holmes-marshalled defence stood firm and held on to its one-goal advantage.
The three points improved the Shawn Cooper coached-T&T youngsters tally to seven from their three matches, the same as Cuba which edged St Kitts/Nevis 1-0 in the day's first match. For the Cubans, Dairon Perez scored in the 59th minute for their second win in three matches.
However, T&T secured the lone spot available to the Concacaf Final Round qualifiers for next year's Fifa World Cup Finals in Mexico as it finished with a superior goal-difference of plus-eight to the Cubans' plus-three.
