The team of bmobile and Guardian Media's urban radio station, Slam 100.5 took the bmobile Eyeslam Concert Series to soca lovers in south on January 25, when they touched down at club LIV Nightlife.
Hosted by Slam's energetic duo of Ryan Spartan and Kris Kennedy, the pair kept scores of avid patrons bubbling in a Carnival cauldron as artistes filed on and off the stage in soca unison at the La Romaine venue, a release said.
Climaxing the talented cast of musical icons on the night was none other than lyricist Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez and Fay Ann Lyons, alongside their Asylum Band and Ground Empire family.
Belting out world-renowned tracks such as Differentology, Truck on the Road and Carnival Tabanca, Garlin kept the adrenaline pumping tune after tune. However, upon his chant of the recent freestyle hit New York, LIV Nightlife was sent into euphoria. Lyons followed suit with her famed songs such as Break Away, Meet Superblue and Heavy T Bumper; but sent the audience into ecstasy with long-time hit, Get On.
Alicia Lewis, a returning Eyeslam patron having previously attended the Woodford Caf, Chaguanas, leg three weeks ago, was in jubilation following the concert.
"I had to come back to the Eyeslam Series because my first time was epic; and tonight was no different," she said following the show.
"Bunji and his team were amazing and oh gosh, I had a ball with Denise Belfon, Sekon Sta and Olatunji. Big up to bmobile and Slam for putting on such an event. I loved it all."
Prior to Bunji and Fay Ann's almost one-hour performance, LIV was privileged to feature a lengthy list of other local soca acts. 5 Star Akil, who has been to almost every Eyeslam Concert thus far, shelled down the place with Hero, followed by To Mih Heart, Party Hard and Different Me. Shal Marshall, a welcomed addition to the cast, also caused a frenzy as he belted out Famous and an array of his many other big songs. On the night's proceedings and the dawning Carnival season, Marshall expressed great elation.
"Everything for the season is shaping up well and I can't complain at all," said the Gyal Farm singer.
"Everyone is loving the music and the effort, and I'm just enjoying that I can do it with my family and friends. They, like the fans, have been really motivating me over the years. Even when I'm down, they still connect with me. Tonight I jammed with my band, the A Team band, and we were great. I'm just now waiting to head on the road (Carnival Monday and Tuesday) with my own truck with the band Fantasy."
Also gracing the south stage were artistes Jaiga, Ravi B, Milko, Devon Matthews, Revelation, M1, Farmer Nappy, Miss Cali, Problem Child, Jungle, K-Rich, GBM Nutron, Eyeslam Superstar Mical Teja and Chutney Monarch favourite Omadarth Maharaj aka Balkissoon.
TSTT VP Marketing Camille Campbell, expressed pleasure with the success of the fourth instalment of the 2017 bmobile Eyeslam Concert.
"Nothing better demonstrates 'Life is On' than the energy at these events. During Carnival Music is Life and bmobile has promised to give our customers the best experiences to enjoy our music and culture. We love the tremendous support of our customers and Slam and we continue to give back to our customers. LIV Nightlife was another enjoyable experience for everyone and customers can look out for much more on our Carnival calendar as we celebrate Music is Life and Life is On."
