Nathan Lewis got his ninth and tenth goals of the season to lead in-form Play Whe San Juan Jabloteh to a 2-1 defeat of Defence Force when matches in the 2015/2016 Digicel T&T Pro League continued on Saturday night.
Playing their second match at the Barataria Recreation Ground, Sixth Avenue, Barataria in a week, Jabloteh and Lewis enjoyed another successful outing with the striker scoring in the 25th minute and again in the 69th before Richard Roy got an 83rd item for the "Teteron Men" to set up a tense finish.
The 22-year-old Lewis gave Jabloteh a 1-0 lead when he latched onto a pass and fired beyond goalkeeper Sheldon Clarke into the far bottom corner from just inside the right of the area, similar to his strike which earned a win against Pt Fortin Civic at the same venue a week ago to the delight of the 500-plus spectators.
Lewis made it 2-0 in the 69th minute, when he smashed the ball beyond Clarke and into the far netting, after he was set free behind the defence by a lifted pass from Fabian Reid.
Defence Force, although failing to cope with Jabloteh's intensity, pulled a goal back via a penalty in the 83rd minutes through forward Richard Roy after Rodell Elcock was upended in the Jabloteh area.
Roy was sharp from the spot, twice, after referee Gyasi Mc Donald had ordered a retake for encroachment.
However Jabloteh managed to hold on for the win, its fifth on the trot while Defence Force, who had defeated Jabloteh twice in the league and once in Cup competition this season, were on the losing end for the first time this season against the "San Juan Kings".
The victory lifted Jabloteh to 38 points from 21 matches, one point behind third placed Defence Force, who are without a point in their last two games.
At the top of the table is defending champions Central FC with 46 points and a match in hand while second placed W Connection, has 40 points.
