Kirston Kallicharan continued his dominance in the BGTT Under-13 InterZone competition yesterday with another dominant performance, guiding the East Zone to a comfortable nine-wicket win over the North Zone at Riversdale Ground, St Joseph in a rain affected day.
Chasing 70 for victory in this 20-over match, right-handed Kallicharan made the runs almost single-handedly. He blasted an unbeaten 68 to get the East Zone to 75/1 off only 7.4 overs. Last week Tuesday, Kallicharan struck 132 to lead East to a huge 206-run win over North-East. Daniel O'Sauna grabbed the lone wicket for North.
Earlier, Ashton Goberdhan (3/11) and Kallicharan (2/12) reduced North to a paltry 69/6 in their 20 overs. Navin Bedaisee top-scored for the North boys with 17. The East Zone will try to make it three wins in as many matches when they face Tobago today at Honeymoon Park.
Down at the Caroni Savannah in a 25-over encounter, Crystian Thurton made an even 50 to guide Central to a 34-run win over South-East on net run rate. Batting first, Thurton's knock took Central to a competitive 127/8. Isiah Gomez and Rick Lobin were the main wicket-takers for South-East, taking 3/16 and 2/19 respectively.
In reply, South-East could only muster 44/6 off 15 overs when play was stopped due to bad light, giving Central the win. Brandon Ali was the chief destroyer, taking 3/4.
