Rank-outsiders Esmeralda SC will play Ceramic Trinidad Limited Merry Boys in the final of the University of the West Indies (UWI) T20 Cricket competition. The Central boys earned their spot in the final with a six-wicket win over Preysal in a thrilling high-scoring semi-final clash at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground, UWI SPEC, St Augustine on Friday evening. On the other side, Merry Boys advanced to the last two courtesy of a 16-run triumph over Moosai SC at the same venue last Thursday night.
Alcindo Holder continued his tremendous run with both bat and ball for Merry Boys as he turned in his third consecutive man-of-the-match performance on the campaign.
The big-hitting Bajan, who was coming off man-of-the- match efforts against Bamboo SC and Prisons, smashed 44 off 35 deliveries to guide Merry Boys to a challenging total of 132 for four in 20 overs, before grabbing three wickets for 29 runs with his off spin as Moosai were dislodged for 117 in 19 overs and two balls. And on Friday, Kevon Edwards cracked 58 in just 27 balls to lead Esmeralda to a comprehensive six-wicket triumph over Preysal SC.
