The Ministry of the People and Social Development has donated $500,000 to the reconstruction of the Credo Drop-In and Development Centre for Socially Displaced Boys. Four years after the centre on Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain, burned to the ground its rebuilding has begun. The centre opened its doors on Nelson Street in 1994.
It worked to get children away from the streets and other abusive situations. Its aim was to help them acquire the personal, social and educational skills needed to become successful and self-reliant citizens.
Minister of the People and Social Development Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh presented the $500,000 donation yesterday to the organisation's executive director Sister Roberta O'Flaherty at a sod-turning ceremony at Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain.
