The Min­istry of the Peo­ple and So­cial De­vel­op­ment has do­nat­ed $500,000 to the re­con­struc­tion of the Cre­do Drop-In and De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre for So­cial­ly Dis­placed Boys. Four years af­ter the cen­tre on Nel­son Street, Port-of-Spain, burned to the ground its re­build­ing has be­gun. The cen­tre opened its doors on Nel­son Street in 1994.

It worked to get chil­dren away from the streets and oth­er abu­sive sit­u­a­tions. Its aim was to help them ac­quire the per­son­al, so­cial and ed­u­ca­tion­al skills need­ed to be­come suc­cess­ful and self-re­liant cit­i­zens.

Min­is­ter of the Peo­ple and So­cial De­vel­op­ment Dr Glenn Ra­mad­hars­ingh pre­sent­ed the $500,000 do­na­tion yes­ter­day to the or­gan­i­sa­tion's ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor Sis­ter Rober­ta O'Fla­her­ty at a sod-turn­ing cer­e­mo­ny at Nel­son Street, Port-of-Spain.
