The T&T Red Force crick­et team, proud­ly spon­sored by the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny, has rekin­dled a sense of na­tion­al pride. The un­bri­dled spir­it of en­er­gy, ex­cite­ment and ex­u­ber­ance dis­played by the team in In­dia spills over to the hun­dreds of thou­sands of sup­port­ers when they hear the mu­sic in the back­ground blar­ing T&T.

The na­tion­al colours are fly­ing high cour­tesy the Gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of T&T.

One re­mem­bers on­ly too well when this same na­tion­al team had to seek pri­vate spon­sor­ship from a for­eign chick­en com­pa­ny dur­ing the pre­vi­ous tour­na­ment as the last gov­ern­ment ducked out of in­volve­ment. Ah well, we wait to hear the hol­low mes­sages from the Op­po­si­tion when it hosts its high­ly an­ti- cipat­ed bi­week­ly press con­fer­ence. Don't be sur­prised if the PNM finds an in­ge­nious way to crit­i­cise the na­tion­al team for leav­ing the coun­try dur­ing a state of emer­gency.
