An estimated 40,000 fans gathered last Saturday to remember Michael Jackson, the man who changed music forever, at the Michael Forever Tribute Concert in Cardiff, Wales. Local fans of the late King of Pop will have their opportunity to remember Jackson this weekend, when local promoters Goldpoint and Paradigm Entertainment in association with the Normandie Hotel, stage the encore of the Michael Jackson Tribute Under The Trees at the Normandie in St Ann's on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 6.30 pm. The production, staged at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) last July, was an extremely creative undertaking that underscored the awesome talent that resides in some of our local entertainers.
Through the use of full costuming, spectacular impressions by local Michael Jackson impersonator Anderson Duff, and the vocal offerings of R&B groups H2O Phlo and 2G, a biography of Jackson's career was created from the days of the original Jackson 5 to the period before his untimely passing. The 100 per cent local production also featured appearances by guitarist Dax Carter, Tim Starr, and The Kai Sokah Moko Jumbies. Philip Carter will be the featured guitarist with the 2G band.
Under the creative direction of Johnny Gonsalves, the two-hour long production will also showcase the spectacular dance sequences seen in videos of Jackson's Thriller and Off The Wall albums. Normandie Hotel will be offering a pre-show dinner, where patrons can dine on a mixture of Mediterranean and local cuisine.
