Mar­tin Douglin, fond­ly called “MEAD”, jour­neyed home on Tues­day, 23rd April, 2024, at the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. He was 89. He was the broth­er of Mar­garet, Right Rev­erend Rawle (Ja­nis) and Ernest Douglin, all de­ceased. He leaves to mourn his wife, Junette Douglin, and daugh­ter, Mar­garet Douglin. He was a trea­sured broth­erin-law to Mon­i­ca, un­cle to John (Phyl­lis) and Richard (Tegest), and great-un­cle to Joni, Ju­dah, Ko­bi, Gabriel, Joel, and Ezana. Mar­tin held a spe­cial place in the hearts of his god­daugh­ters Lisa, Krista, and Lo­rie-Anne. He was a ded­i­cat­ed ed­u­ca­tor at Queen’s Roy­al Col­lege, where he re­tired in 1994. View­ing and open trib­utes will be held at the Holy Trin­i­ty Cathe­dral Chapel on Thurs­day 2nd May at 5:30pm and the Fu­ner­al of the late Mar­tin Douglin will be held on Fri­day 3rd May at 9:00am at All Saints An­gli­can Church. The repass will be held at the All Saints Memo­r­i­al Hall op­po­site the All Saints An­gli­can Church im­me­di­ate­ly af­ter the ser­vice un­til 1:00pm.

REZENDE, RICHARD passed away peace­ful­ly on Sun­day 24th March, 2024. Son of the late El­mo and Maria Rezende. Hus­band of Ada Jim­mez. Fa­ther of Char­lene, Dami­an and Si­mone. Step daugh­ter of Vanes­sa Jim­mez. Fa­ther-in-law of Anil, Trudie and Ste­fan. Grand­fa­ther of Re­bec­ca, Jay­na, Adam, Gabriel and Sarah-Jane. Broth­er of Paula, Wayne, Willard(dec), Denise, Pe­ter, Bruce and Patrice. Lov­ing un­cle to many. Fu­ner­al mass for the late Richard Rezende takes place at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, St. James, on Tues­day 2nd April, 2024 at 10:00am, fol­lowed by pri­vate in­ter­ment.

Za­li­na Nab­bie Ali of Mar­aval passed away peace­ful­ly on 18th Feb­ru­ary 2024, in her home in Ruther­ford, NJ, USA, at the age of 96. Daugh­ter of the late Ab­dul Ghany Nab­bie and Ha­jjin Cad­ran Nab­bie. Beloved wife of the late Carl Ali of St. James. She was the el­dest of 10 chil­dren, Yacub (dec), Za­itoon, Sul­li­man (dec), Ab­dul (dec), Zu­bi­da, Ameena, Nazir, Has­muth (dec), Sher Ali. She left school at an ear­ly age to help care for her younger sib­lings and was an es­sen­tial part in the build­ing of Nab­bie’s Hard­ware & Trans­port. She left Trinidad in the 1960’s and mi­grat­ed to the Unit­ed States where she and her hus­band worked to make a life for her chil­dren in a new coun­try. She is sur­vived by her 8 chil­dren Fa­rook, Sa­heed, Fari­da (dec), Carl Jr., Shirley, Fa­ti­ma, Sha­han and Car­leen. 14 grand­chil­dren Re­bec­ca, Asif, Khadi­jah, Ab­dul-Karim, Miri­am, Jameel, Sal­isha, Johnathan, Sha­hana, Carl, Math­ew, Shaz­ara, Sean and Mar­il­isa and14 great-grand­chil­dren Yas­min, Nathan, Tes­sa, Dy­lan, Neela, Aidan, Taran, Hunter, Ava, Ja­cob, Amir, Anisah, Tris­tan, and Alaya. Moth­er-in-law to Char­main, Ann, Ra­ju, Jen­ny,Nar­ie, John­ny, and Robert. The ma­tri­arch of her fam­i­ly, she de­vot­ed her life to the teach­ings of Is­lam, and in­still­ing those lessons in­to her fam­i­ly. She was well known for the com­pas­sion and care she showed to every­one in her life. She will tru­ly be missed by all who know her.
