11 new COVID cases, but no new deaths

The lat­est up­date from the Min­istry of Health is con­firm­ing 11 new pos­i­tive cas­es of COVID-19, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es in the coun­try to 606 pa­tients.

The Min­istry notes that the new cas­es are based on sam­ples tak­en be­tween Thurs­day 5 and Sat­ur­day 7 No­vem­ber 2020.  In ad­di­tion, this lat­est sta­tis­tic marks a slight in the num­ber of ac­tive cas­es na­tion­al­ly, as the fig­ure for yes­ter­day (Sat­ur­day) stood at 600 pa­tients.

In its up­date for to­day, Sun­day 8 No­vem­ber 2020, the Min­istry al­so is re­port­ing no new deaths from COVID-19 since Thurs­day 5 No­vem­ber 2020, with the na­tion­al toll hold­ing at 111 per­sons.

The Health Min­istry al­so notes in its up­date:

● 37 per­sons are still hos­pi­talised for COVID-19; down from 41 pa­tients on Sat­ur­day.

● 526 per­sons are in home self-iso­la­tion; up from 487 pa­tients on Sat­ur­day.

● 302 per­sons are in State quar­an­tine fa­cil­i­ties; up from 222 pa­tients on Sat­ur­day.

● 32 pa­tients are still re­cov­er­ing in step/down fa­cil­i­ties; no change from Sat­ur­day.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic are re­mind­ed that they must ad­here to the ‘New Nor­mal’ rec­om­men­da­tions and take the fol­low­ing per­son­al health mea­sures to pro­tect them­selves and their loved ones from COVID-19:

●   Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when you go out in pub­lic

●   Keep your dis­tance from oth­ers (6 feet)

●   Stay home if you are ill

●   Clean then sani­tise sur­faces (e.g. table­tops, door knobs and cell phones)

●   Wash your hands of­ten with soap and wa­ters or use an al­co­hol-based hand sani­tis­er

●   Cough in­to a tis­sue or in­to the cook of your el­bow

●   Avoid touch­ing your face

If you or a loved one de­vel­ops symp­toms of COVID-19, please call the hot­line 877-WELL or 800-WELL (9355) for fur­ther guid­ance.

If the per­son is se­vere­ly ill, call the 811 (emer­gency hot­line) or call ahead to the Ac­ci­dent and Emer­gency De­part­ment of your near­est hos­pi­tal for help and go in im­me­di­ate­ly.
