Four men, including a Venezuelan were arrested yesterday in connection with a bar brawl, a stolen firearm, and a stolen Samsung phone at a sports bar in Barrackpore.
According to police reports, an armed Estate Constable, was on duty at the bar, its alleged an argument ensued with a man of East Indian descent in the washroom area of the bar.
Police reports say the argument escalated into a physical altercation, and it is alleged that three men joined the fight in which the Estate Constable was beaten.
One of the men took the his firearm and Samsung cell phone, and they then drove off in a Nissan Frontier vehicle.
Officers of the Southern Division responded to the report, and a coordinated exercise was led by Senior Superintendent Smith, ASP Bertie, Inspector Ramlogan, and Sergeant Joseph.
As a result of the exercise, the Frontier vehicle was intercepted and searched by members of the Southern Division Task Force in the vicinity of Picton Recreational Ground, Papourie Road. The men who occupied the vehicle were arrested and the firearm was recovered.
