Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances that led to the death of a sus­pect­ed ban­dit who tried to rob a La Hor­quet­ta gro­cery on Fri­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said work­ers were at the Sil­ver Fox Su­per­mar­ket on Prophe­cy Av­enue, La Hor­quet­ta, around 6.30 pm when they were con­front­ed by a man hold­ing a gun, who de­mand­ed cash.

One of the work­ers gave the man a bag with mon­ey, as the ban­dit took it he was con­front­ed by an­oth­er work­er at the busi­ness­place.

Both work­er and ban­dit strug­gled and the ban­dit was shot with his own weapon dur­ing the fra­cas.

The bleed­ing sus­pect tried to run but col­lapsed near­by and was tak­en to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal by of­fi­cers of thr North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force who were called in.

The man, who was iden­ti­fied as 45-year-old Richard McK­ie, died at the fa­cil­i­ty.
