The Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed that sev­en sus­pects were ar­rest­ed in Cunu­pia in the ear­ly hours of Tues­day morn­ing, dur­ing on­go­ing State of Emer­gency Op­er­a­tions con­duct­ed in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands the ex­er­cis­es were con­duct­ed be­tween 12 am and 4 am yes­ter­day (Jan­u­ary 28, 2025).

Dur­ing the ex­er­cis­es, sev­en peo­ple were de­tained in ac­cor­dance with Sec­tion 14 (1) of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions. Those de­tained were said to be from Cunu­pia, Mor­vant and San Juan.

The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt. Car­ty, Supt. Gyan and In­sp. Pet­ti, and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers of the Cunu­pia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force (Area North), and the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion.

The TTPS al­so re­ports that dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, five Fixed Penal­ty No­tices were is­sued for var­i­ous traf­fic of­fences.
