Bandits shoot man during Arouca robbery

SHANE SU­PERVILLE

A 47-year-old Cunu­pia man is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion af­ter he was shot by ban­dits dur­ing a rob­bery in Arou­ca on Wednes­day night.

Po­lice said the man was at Uni­ty Trace, Ed­na Hill, around 8.45 pm when he was con­front­ed by two ban­dits with guns.

The ban­dits tried to steal the man's valu­ables but he tried to fight them off.

The ban­dits then shot the man in his chest, arm and leg be­fore run­ning away.

Res­i­dents heard the gun­shots and called the po­lice.

Of­fi­cers of the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force went to the scene and took the wound­ed man to hos­pi­tal where he was se­dat­ed.

He re­mained in sta­ble but crit­i­cal con­di­tion up to Thurs­day morn­ing.

Arou­ca po­lice are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
