The daughter of R&J Cell Tech narrowly escaped injury after a gunman opened fire on her vehicle in an apparent attempt on her life on Tuesday morning.
Reports say the incident took place around 10 a.m., shortly after she dropped off her mother at the family’s store at Gulf City Mall. She was driving along the South Trunk Road heading to buy food when a Nissan B14 Sentra rammed the back of her Range Rover near the Cross Crossing interchange.
She stopped, thinking it was a traffic accident. The car pulled up alongside her and, believing the driver might flee, she began recording with her phone. But the front passenger door of the B14 opened and a man fired two shots at her.
One bullet struck her driver’s door and the other lodged in the back seat. She sped off and drove straight to the police station.
There were two men in the suspect vehicle—one in the driver’s seat and another in the back. Her father, Rabindranath Maharaj, believes it was an attempted hit on his daughter but said he had no clear motive. He added that his family has been targeted for years: his son was kidnapped, there were two attempted kidnappings of another daughter, and the family has endured 14 robberies.
San Fernando police are investigating.
