Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher, has reminded 156 new police officers of the importance of maintaining the nation’s trust, even as they carry out their national duty in the Police Service.
On Wednesday, at a graduation ceremony held at the Barracks Square at the Police Academy in St. James, the TTPS welcomed Batch 1 of 2023 – Squads A through F, who had been in training over the past six months.
A release from the Police Service says the new officers will continue with their Passing-Out Ceremony at 4 pm next Wednesday, May 29, at the Police Academy.

Commissioner Harewood-Christopher commended the new officers for sticking through the tough training as, “policing is not for the faint of heart.”
She encouraged them to let their service bear the hallmarks of P.R.I.D.E.—Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dignity, and Excellence.
The Police Commissioner reminded the new officers of the tremendous responsibility they bore, quoting the philosopher Edmund Burke, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Also imparting wisdom and inspiration to the new graduates was His Worship Alexander Prince, who shared anecdotes from his own time in the Police Service, and underscored the need for personal self-belief and daily affirmations as vital tools for success.
