Cops find pistol, ammunition in car in PoS

Of­fi­cers who re­spond­ed to a fight along In­de­pen­dence Square South in Port-of-Spain on Mon­day morn­ing end­ed up re­cov­er­ing a loaded gun in a ve­hi­cle af­ter a brief chase.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 7 am of­fi­cers from the Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol in­clud­ing Cpl Moore, WPC Orr, PCs Mur­ray, Pierre and Bram­ble were on mo­bile pa­trol when they re­ceived in­for­ma­tion from a passer­by who claimed there was a fight on In­de­pen­dence Square South and the sus­pect was the dri­ver of a red Elantra.

When the of­fi­cers ar­rived on the scene, the sus­pect got in­to the car and sped off. The of­fi­cers gave chase and in­ter­cept­ed the ve­hi­cle along In­de­pen­dence Square North. They found a pis­tol with five rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The sus­pect was sub­se­quent­ly ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Besson Po­lice Sta­tion.
