Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the death of a 45-year-old man of San Juan.

The death is be­lieved to have stemmed from a do­mes­tic vi­o­lence in­ci­dent.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, a woman called of­fi­cers just af­ter 4pm Thurs­day and re­port­ed that her hus­band start­ed to abuse her and be­gan to choke her.

She said her three chil­dren came to her as­sis­tance and she ran out­side.

She told of­fi­cers when she re­turned she saw her hus­band mo­tion­less on the bed.

Po­lice are try­ing to de­ter­mine ex­act­ly how the man died.

Man killed dur­ing fra­cas

A 39-year-old of Las Lo­mas was struck and killed dur­ing a fra­cas in­volv­ing a group of men.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied by po­lice as Vishal Ra­jku­mars­ingh of Las Lo­mas #1 Via Chin Chin Road, Cunu­pia. Ra­jku­mars­ingh was a se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer em­ployed with Al­lied Se­cu­ri­ty.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 1.30 pm Thurs­day Ra­jku­mars­ingh was in the com­pa­ny of four oth­er men in­clud­ing a maxi taxi dri­ver when they blocked Savary Road, Las Lo­mas #1 with the maxi taxi pre­vent­ing a 27-year-old man of Ram­saran Trace, Cara­pichaima from dri­ving his truck.

Po­lice said three of the men were armed with bot­tles, stones, a cut­lass and a gulf club be­gan throw­ing the stones and bot­tles at the truck the 27-year-old was in.

The 27-year-old man al­so re­ceived a lac­er­a­tion to the right side of the face be­low the right eye. He at­tempt­ed to flee and drove his truck for­ward hit­ting the maxi and es­cap­ing.

Short­ly af­ter Ra­jku­mars­ingh was seen ly­ing mo­tion­less on the road­way.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.

Po­lice warn of ris­ing gang vi­o­lence

A 34-year-old man was shot and wound­ed while walk­ing in the Bel­mont area on Thurs­day.

Po­lice said around 5.30 pm the vic­tim of Bel­mont was walk­ing along Ar­gyle Street, when a ve­hi­cle ap­proached him and its oc­cu­pants opened fire on him. The car then sped off.

The vic­tim sub­se­quent­ly felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion to the left thigh and scro­tum.

He was then tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice have warned res­i­dents and com­muters trav­el­ling in and out of East Port-of-Spain and the Bel­mont to ex­er­cise cau­tion as there seems to be an up­surge in gang-re­lat­ed shoot­ings in the area.

Po­lice al­so as­sured that mo­bile pa­trols will be in­creased in a bid to quell the up­surge in gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ties.

Woman raped, beat­en

A 21-year-old woman was beat­en and sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed by her com­mon-law hus­band in Va­len­cia on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said just be­fore 9 pm the vic­tim was at her home with the man, aged 31 when he ac­cused her of be­ing

un­faith­ful and start­ed beat­ing her about her body.

He then sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed her.

Neigh­bours who heard her screams con­tact­ed the po­lice Va­len­cia po­lice.
