A Diego Martin man had to be treated at hospital on Sunday night after he was assaulted by a gunman in the presence of relatives.
The 24-year-old victim was reportedly walking along Quarry Road, Diego Martin around 10 pm on May 12 when he stopped to talk with a group of family members on the street.
It is alleged that three suspects walked up and surrounded the victim, during which time one man pulled out a firearm and used it to hit him in the nose and about the head.
They reportedly robbed him of two cellphones and fired two shots at him before escaping.
The victim’s girlfriend rushed him to the St James Medical Facility, where he was stabilised before being transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
The victim was later treated for open wounds to the nostril and head caused by blunt force trauma, before being discharged. —Anna-Lisa Paul
