Although Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley eased the restriction on going to beaches over the weekend, few turned up on Tobago beaches.

There was an expectation that large crowds would flock to have a sea bath after weeks of the no-beach ban in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Before the PM’s announcement at last Saturday's media briefing, Tobago Business Chamber's chairman Martin George, as well as Crown Point Business Association vice-president Shirley Cooke, had called for the reopening of the island's beaches as a first step to reopening the economy.

When the beaches were first reopened on June 22nd, hundreds turned up, resulting in their closure not long after.
