Flow Trinidad marked International Girls in ICT Day 2025 by participating in a series of outreach initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of opportunities in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. The annual observance held globally on April 24, carried the theme “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation.”
Simone Martin-Sulgan, Vice President and General Manager of Flow Trinidad, stated that supporting the development of young women in ICT contributes to the availability of skilled professionals in the field.“Empowering girls and young women in ICT is not optional; it’s a necessity for a thriving and inclusive digital future,” she said. “As a large technology-based company, we also depend on having a strong cadre of highly trained ICT talent available to us as we work to expand our digital agenda and pilot innovations that will drive the region forward.”
Martin-Sulgan also addressed the theme of the 2025 observance, stating that it highlights the need for inclusivity in policy and infrastructure development related to digital technology.“ Representation and contributions from all backgrounds and perspectives, including our women, is key, and it starts by inspiring young minds to embrace their roles as leaders in ICT,” she added.
As part of its activities, Flow Trinidad participated in the annual Career Fair hosted by St. Joseph’s Convent, Port of Spain, on April 9. At the event, members of the Flow Sports team interacted with over 300 students, providing demonstrations in videography, video editing, content creation, and sports broadcasting.
On April 12, Flow was a major sponsor of the Tech4Girls Workshop: AI Skills for Success, which reached approximately 400 young women and girls.
The workshop focused on AI literacy and the use of AI tools to improve productivity and decision-making. Twenty Flow employees volunteered at four of the 24 ICT Access Centres where the training sessions took place.
International Girls in ICT Day is an initiative that encourages young women and girls to explore careers in ICT and promotes their engagement in technology-related education and professional development.
