Flow Trinidad marked In­ter­na­tion­al Girls in ICT Day 2025 by par­tic­i­pat­ing in a se­ries of out­reach ini­tia­tives aimed at in­creas­ing aware­ness of op­por­tu­ni­ties in the In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Tech­nol­o­gy (ICT) sec­tor. The an­nu­al ob­ser­vance held glob­al­ly on April 24, car­ried the theme “Girls in ICT for In­clu­sive Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion.”

Si­mone Mar­tin-Sul­gan, Vice Pres­i­dent and Gen­er­al Man­ag­er of Flow Trinidad, stat­ed that sup­port­ing the de­vel­op­ment of young women in ICT con­tributes to the avail­abil­i­ty of skilled pro­fes­sion­als in the field.“Em­pow­er­ing girls and young women in ICT is not op­tion­al; it’s a ne­ces­si­ty for a thriv­ing and in­clu­sive dig­i­tal fu­ture,” she said. “As a large tech­nol­o­gy-based com­pa­ny, we al­so de­pend on hav­ing a strong cadre of high­ly trained ICT tal­ent avail­able to us as we work to ex­pand our dig­i­tal agen­da and pi­lot in­no­va­tions that will dri­ve the re­gion for­ward.”

Mar­tin-Sul­gan al­so ad­dressed the theme of the 2025 ob­ser­vance, stat­ing that it high­lights the need for in­clu­siv­i­ty in pol­i­cy and in­fra­struc­ture de­vel­op­ment re­lat­ed to dig­i­tal tech­nol­o­gy.“ Rep­re­sen­ta­tion and con­tri­bu­tions from all back­grounds and per­spec­tives, in­clud­ing our women, is key, and it starts by in­spir­ing young minds to em­brace their roles as lead­ers in ICT,” she added.

As part of its ac­tiv­i­ties, Flow Trinidad par­tic­i­pat­ed in the an­nu­al Ca­reer Fair host­ed by St. Joseph’s Con­vent, Port of Spain, on April 9. At the event, mem­bers of the Flow Sports team in­ter­act­ed with over 300 stu­dents, pro­vid­ing demon­stra­tions in videog­ra­phy, video edit­ing, con­tent cre­ation, and sports broad­cast­ing.

On April 12, Flow was a ma­jor spon­sor of the Tech4Girls Work­shop: AI Skills for Suc­cess, which reached ap­prox­i­mate­ly 400 young women and girls. 

The work­shop fo­cused on AI lit­er­a­cy and the use of AI tools to im­prove pro­duc­tiv­i­ty and de­ci­sion-mak­ing. Twen­ty Flow em­ploy­ees vol­un­teered at four of the 24 ICT Ac­cess Cen­tres where the train­ing ses­sions took place.

In­ter­na­tion­al Girls in ICT Day is an ini­tia­tive that en­cour­ages young women and girls to ex­plore ca­reers in ICT and pro­motes their en­gage­ment in tech­nol­o­gy-re­lat­ed ed­u­ca­tion and pro­fes­sion­al de­vel­op­ment.
