The Pres­i­dent of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Hock­ey Board Roger St Rose has been charged by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice for sex­u­al as­sault against a mi­nor. The TTPS con­firmed on to Guardian Me­dia that St Rose, an at­tor­ney, was charged by the Spe­cial Vic­tims De­part­ment.

The TTPS is ex­pect­ed to re­lease a state­ment in the com­ing hours.

Ear­li­er this week, the Hock­ey Board ad­vised mem­bers in a no­tice that St Rose 'has tak­en a leave of ab­sence.'

The no­tice added that, "Dur­ing his ab­sence, Mr John Lewis, 1st Vice Pres­i­dent of the TTHB, will act as Pres­i­dent."

St Rose, of Malvern Sports Club, was elect­ed as the new pres­i­dent of the T&T Hock­ey Board (T&THB) at its 24th An­nu­al Coun­cil Meet­ing (ACM) in No­vem­ber 2021.

He was the first um­pire from T&T to of­fi­ci­ate at the Olympics (in 1996) and the FIH World Cup.

St Rose is a mem­ber of the Of­fi­cials Com­mit­tee of the Fed­er­a­tion of In­ter­na­tion­al Hock­ey (FIH) and the Um­pires Com­mit­tee of the Pan Amer­i­can Hock­ey Fed­er­a­tion (PAHF).
