T&T cricketer Khary Pierre has been called up to the West Indies Test squad while Tagenarine Chanderpaul has been recalled for the tour of India.
Cricket West Indies has confirmed the 15-member squad for the two-Test series against India from October 2 to 14, with matches scheduled in Ahmedabad and Delhi. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship and marks the team’s first away assignment in the new cycle as well as its first Test tour of India since 2018.
The squad includes three changes from the recent series against Australia. Opening batter Chanderpaul and batter Alick Athanaze return, while left-arm spinner Pierre has earned his maiden Test selection. Pierre was the leading wicket-taker in the West Indies Championship, claiming 41 wickets at an average of 13.56.
The selectors have opted to rest spinner Gudakesh Motie ahead of a busy white-ball schedule, highlighted by the ICC T20 World Cup in February and March of 2026.
Captain Roston Chase will lead the team with Jomel Warrican named as vice-captain. Head Coach Daren Sammy noted the significance of the series and the challenge of playing against a high-ranked side in its home conditions.
The full squad reads: Roston Chase (Captain), Jomel Warrican (Vice-Captain), Kevlon Anderson, Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Khary Pierre, and Jayden Seales.
The team management unit includes Head Coach Daren Sammy, Assistant Coaches Floyd Reifer (Batting), Ravi Rampaul (Bowling), and Rayon Griffith (Fielding). Team Manager Rawl Lewis, Physiotherapist Neil Barry, Strength and Conditioning Coach Ronald Rogers, Massage Therapist Fitzbert Alleyne, Team Analyst Avenesh Seetaram, and Media Officer Jerome Foster complete the support group.
The tour will open with the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2 to 6, followed by the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10 to 14.
This series represents a continuation of West Indies’ international calendar following home assignments against Australia and Pakistan earlier this year. It also offers players the chance to push for positions in the long-term Test setup while preparing for a demanding limited-overs campaign.
With new inclusions and a balance of experience and youth, the squad will aim to deliver competitive performances in India’s conditions as the new World Test Championship cycle gathers momentum.
