Law clerk accused of sexually touching child

A law clerk ac­cused of sex­u­al­ly touch­ing a sev­en-year-old girl has been warned to stay away from the child af­ter he was giv­en bail in the sum of $75,000.

The Princes Town man ap­peared in a vir­tu­al hear­ing be­fore Princes Town Se­nior mag­is­trate In­di­ra Misir-Go­sine yes­ter­day but he was not called up­on to plead to the charge.

He was ar­rest­ed af­ter the child re­port­ed to the Child Pro­tec­tion that the man as­sault­ed her.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were head­ed by act­ing Supt George, actin­gASP Sookdeo, su­per­vised by act­ing In­sp Fran­cis and con­duct­ed by WPC Quashie Gay who sub­se­quent­ly charged him.

Court pros­e­cu­tor Sgt Shazeed Mo­hammed did not ob­ject to bail as he the ac­cused has no crim­i­nal record.

The pros­e­cu­tor, how­ev­er, asked for bail con­di­tions.

The mag­is­trate or­dered the law clerk to have no com­mu­ni­ca­tion with the girl, ei­ther di­rect­ly or in­di­rect­ly.

She al­so or­dered him to stay 300 me­ters away from the child.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Au­gust 6.
