A San­gre Grande man was killed on Fri­day night while fight­ing a man who tried to wine on his com­mon -law wife.

Keron Mod­este-Jack, 39, of North East­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande was re­port­ed­ly lim­ing with the 34-year-old woman who is from Oropouche Road, San­gre Grande – at a pop­u­lar es­tab­lish­ment around 6.30 pm.

Re­ports say a man from Bois Bande Vil­lage, San­gre Grande who was known to the woman, at­tempt­ed to dance on her, prompt­ing her to push him off and walk away.

Wit­ness­es said Mod­este-Jack lat­er smashed a glass bot­tle and con­front­ed the sus­pect, which led to a fight.

The woman told po­lice she ran off as the two be­gan fight­ing – and lat­er saw Mod­este-Jack bleed­ing from wounds to the head and back.

She rushed the in­jured man to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed, but lat­er died at 10.47 pm.

Mean­while, the sus­pect whose both hands were in­jured dur­ing the in­ci­dent, was al­so tak­en to hos­pi­tal.

He was in­ter­viewed by the po­lice and re­mained ward­ed up to yes­ter­day.
