A man is dead and two others wounded following a shooting at Poole Valley Trace, Guayaguayare Road, Rio Claro, on Saturday night.
Investigators said Keston Alexander, 23, of Rio Claro, was taking a bath in an open area behind his home when two masked men armed with firearms accosted him and fired several shots.
Alexander ran through his house and across the roadway but was pursued by the gunmen, who continued shooting. He fell near the gateway of a house opposite his home, where the assailants approached and fired multiple shots at him before fleeing into a forested area behind his home.
When police arrived, they found Alexander lying face down on the southern side of the roadway, clad in red boxer shorts and bearing gunshot wounds. Police found one spent S&B 9mm shell and four spent Luger 9mm shells.
Akim Mohammed, also of Poole Valley Trace, and Sheldon Griffith were also injured during the melee.
Mohammed suffered an injury to his left shin and sought medical attention at the Rio Claro Health Facility, where he was treated and discharged. Sheldon Griffith, from the same area, received a minor injury to his left wrist but refused medical treatment.
Neighbours described Alexander as a hardworking labourer.
