A man is dead and two oth­ers wound­ed fol­low­ing a shoot­ing at Poole Val­ley Trace, Guayagua­yare Road, Rio Claro, on Sat­ur­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Ke­ston Alexan­der, 23, of Rio Claro, was tak­ing a bath in an open area be­hind his home when two masked men armed with firearms ac­cost­ed him and fired sev­er­al shots.

Alexan­der ran through his house and across the road­way but was pur­sued by the gun­men, who con­tin­ued shoot­ing. He fell near the gate­way of a house op­po­site his home, where the as­sailants ap­proached and fired mul­ti­ple shots at him be­fore flee­ing in­to a forest­ed area be­hind his home.

When po­lice ar­rived, they found Alexan­der ly­ing face down on the south­ern side of the road­way, clad in red box­er shorts and bear­ing gun­shot wounds. Po­lice found one spent S&B 9mm shell and four spent Luger 9mm shells.

Akim Mo­hammed, al­so of Poole Val­ley Trace, and Shel­don Grif­fith were al­so in­jured dur­ing the melee.

Mo­hammed suf­fered an in­jury to his left shin and sought med­ical at­ten­tion at the Rio Claro Health Fa­cil­i­ty, where he was treat­ed and dis­charged. Shel­don Grif­fith, from the same area, re­ceived a mi­nor in­jury to his left wrist but re­fused med­ical treat­ment.

Neigh­bours de­scribed Alexan­der as a hard­work­ing labour­er.

Po­lice are try­ing to es­tab­lish a mo­tive for the shoot­ing as they track down the gun­men.

Nude body found in San Juan

A grue­some dis­cov­ery was made yes­ter­day morn­ing at Quar­ry Road in San Juan, where the nude body of a man was found. The vic­tim, iden­ti­fied as Re­nal­do Ri­ley, bore vis­i­ble signs of vi­o­lence, po­lice said.

The body was dis­cov­ered by res­i­dents around 8 am.

A mo­tive is yet to be de­ter­mined for the killing. Po­lice are ac­tive­ly in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing this homi­cide.
