A 33-year-old man from Mara­bel­la was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody, when he ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Armi­na Mo­hammed De­onar­i­nesingh, at the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court charged with As­sault Oc­ca­sion­ing Ac­tu­al Bod­i­ly Harm, Com­mon As­sault, and Threats to Kill. The ac­cused is ex­pect­ed to re-ap­pear in court on March 20th.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on Feb­ru­ary 7th a woman had an al­ter­ca­tion with her com­mon law hus­band, dur­ing which he al­leged­ly ver­bal­ly abused her, hit her sev­er­al times about her face and body, then al­leged­ly armed him­self with a knife and point­ed it to the woman’s neck. The woman al­so re­port­ed that the man al­so cut sev­er­al strands of her dread­locks with a knife. Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the woman al­leged­ly re­ceived a lac­er­a­tion to her hand.

The in­ci­dent was re­port­ed to the Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion. WPC Syl­van in­ves­ti­gat­ed the mat­ter, which re­sult­ed in ar­rest of a man, who was sub­se­quent­ly charged with the three of­fences on 15th March, 2023. In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by Su­per­in­ten­dent Claire GuyAl­leyne, ASP Seecha­ran, In­spec­tor Ram­phal and Sergeant Ban­warie.
