The Ministry of Education says preliminary reports suggest the seven-year-old primary school student hospitalised after a school incident may have been accidental.
The boy was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital after complaining of abdominal pain and is now in critical condition with a ruptured spleen. His mother said a teacher told her her son was pushed at school, but police said the injuries appear inconsistent with a simple push.
The Ministry assured that an investigation is ongoing and the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.
Officers from the Student Support Services Division, the School Supervision and Management Division, and the TTPS have visited the school to provide support and carry out inquiries.
