Police said the officer, assigned to the St Joseph Police Station, was navigating heavy traffic along the Southern Main Road around 10:45 a.m. when a silver Nissan X-Trail attempted to turn out of a side street. The officer applied his brakes, causing the motorcycle to skid. He fell and rolled about 35 feet from the vehicle.
Bystanders alerted police, and officers from the St Joseph Police Station, along with ambulance personnel, responded. The officer was taken to the Mt Hope hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered a broken collarbone. He was treated and later discharged.
The damaged police motorcycle was taken to the St Joseph Police Station for examination. Officers of the North-Central Division are continuing investigations.
