A mo­tor­cy­cle po­lice of­fi­cer was in­jured while on pa­trol in Curepe on Wednes­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cer, as­signed to the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion, was nav­i­gat­ing heavy traf­fic along the South­ern Main Road around 10:45 a.m. when a sil­ver Nis­san X-Trail at­tempt­ed to turn out of a side street. The of­fi­cer ap­plied his brakes, caus­ing the mo­tor­cy­cle to skid. He fell and rolled about 35 feet from the ve­hi­cle.

By­standers alert­ed po­lice, and of­fi­cers from the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion, along with am­bu­lance per­son­nel, re­spond­ed. The of­fi­cer was tak­en to the Mt Hope hos­pi­tal, where doc­tors con­firmed he had suf­fered a bro­ken col­lar­bone. He was treat­ed and lat­er dis­charged.

The dam­aged po­lice mo­tor­cy­cle was tak­en to the St Joseph Po­lice Sta­tion for ex­am­i­na­tion. Of­fi­cers of the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
