Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath met with President of bp Trinidad and Tobago David Campbell and Vice President of Communications and External Affairs Ryan Chaitram last Thursday.
The meeting focused on updates from bpTT regarding current and future initiatives in the energy sector. The company outlined progress on its gas development plans and highlighted its role in deepwater exploration with key industry stakeholders.
bpTT also discussed the Brechin Castle Solar Project, a collaboration with Shell and the National Gas Company. The project is scheduled to begin operations later in 2025 and is positioned as a significant addition to the country’s renewable energy efforts.
The meeting also addressed bpTT’s corporate social responsibility programmes. These efforts target education, sport, and entrepreneurship in several communities including Mayaro, Guayaguayare, and Rio Claro.
Padarath expressed appreciation for the engagement and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting projects that align with national development goals and provide benefits to communities.
The meeting marked continued collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and energy sector stakeholders.
