With their pass­ing out pa­rade mere weeks away, 161 re­cruits par­tic­i­pat­ed in an out­reach ses­sion with the Po­lice Com­plaints Au­thor­i­ty (PCA) at the Po­lice Train­ing Acad­e­my, St James, to­day.

The ses­sion was con­duct­ed by PCA Di­rec­tor David West and sev­er­al PCA of­fi­cials from the le­gal, in­ves­tiga­tive, com­mu­ni­ca­tions and IT de­part­ments of the Au­thor­i­ty.

In his ad­dress to the re­cruits, David West point­ed out that their ca­reer as mem­bers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice will not be an easy one.

He warned them it would be “a thank­less job”.

"You are here to show the pub­lic that you in­tend to make a dif­fer­ence,” he told the re­cruits. “Do not get in­volved in cor­rupt ac­tiv­i­ties. Do not let your fam­i­lies down. More im­por­tant­ly, do not let your­selves down."

Mr West said the train­ing which the re­cruits have un­der­gone at the Acad­e­my can match train­ing any­where else in the world.

The PCA di­rec­tor al­so pro­vid­ed the re­cruits with in­sight in­to the PCA’s role and func­tions.

The Pass­ing Out Cer­e­mo­ny for the 161 re­cruits will take place on May 29, 2024.
