A Special Reserve Police Officer (SRP) of Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande, was kidnapped and robbed on Thursday as she left a bank after withdrawing $400 in cash.

The incident occurred around 5.50 pm in Sangre Grande.

Police said the SRP reportedly parked her car along a road near First Citizens and utilized the fast service machine.

As she was about to re-enter the car, the suspect allegedly grabbed her by the throat and warned her, “Don’t make ah scene or I will kill you.”

Forcing her over to the passenger seat, the suspect got into the driver’s seat and relieved the officer of TT $400 in cash; one gold chain valued at TT $1,400; one gold ring valued at TT $2,500; two gold bands; and one Samsung cell phone.

After demanding more money from the victim, the suspect reportedly drove the officer to RBC, Independence Square, Port-of-Spain and entered the fast-service area with her and ordered her to withdraw TT $3,000 in cash.

He then forced her back into the car and as he drove along Broadway – he stopped the car and ran off in a southerly direction.

The officer made her way to the Central Police Station (CPS), St Vincent Street and reported the incident.

The victim was later taken for medical treatment.

Investigating officials requested the CCTV footage from the bank and that has since been forwarded to the Cyber Crimes Unit.

The car was processed and fingerprints were also obtained.

“Boss” tells cohorts wrong man abducted

And a St Joseph man who was kidnapped by four masked men from his bedroom during the wee hours of August 2, was later returned after the “boss” admitted the wrong man had been snatched.

The 28-year-old victim told police he was asleep and around 1.15 am, when he was awakened by a noise.

As he sat up, he saw four men surrounding the bed.

Dragged to the edge of the mattress, he was blindfolded and taken outside to a waiting vehicle.

After being driven to an unknown location in east Trinidad where he was strung up, beaten and tortured as they demanded to know about a particular sum of money – the victim was cut down after he kept denying any such knowledge.

After a short while, the kidnappers contacted the man in charge, following which a video call was placed and the victim’s face was held up to the camera.

It was then that the man on the other end said, “That aint him.”

As the call ended, the suspects again blindfolded the injured victim and placed him in the trunk of the car, before they drove back to Farm Road, St Joseph and left him at the side of the road.
