A decomposing body believed to be that of a street dweller was found down a precipice in San Fernando on Wednesday.
Initial reports stated that around 3 pm the officers of the Southern Division Task Force were on patrol when they were alerted by a passer-by of a foul stench in the area of a barricaded construction site at the corner of Keate and Gomez Streets, San Fernando near the old National cinema.
When the officers investigated, they found a decomposing body down a precipice. The body was of African descent, dark skin complexion, stockily built, appeared to be in his 50s and was dressed in a blue t-shirt and black long jeans which were pulled down to his knees.
The police inquiries revealed that the man was a known street dweller.
An autopsy will be done at the Forensic Science Centre in Port of Spain. Investigations are continuing.
