A Preysal Sec­ondary stu­dent, who was caught en­ter­ing the com­pound with a knife, is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in court to­day.

Po­lice said two se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing search­es on stu­dents on Tues­day be­fore they en­tered the school in Cen­tral Trinidad.

When one of the of­fi­cers searched a Form Three stu­dent around 8.20 am, a sharp­ened curved knife was found in a black side pouch, along with a black han­dle.

The stu­dent was tak­en to the prin­ci­pal and his moth­er was con­tact­ed, as well as the po­lice. He was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the po­lice sta­tion, then trans­ferred to the Oropouche Ju­ve­nile Book­ing Cen­tre, where he was charged by PC Al­i­bo­cus for pos­ses­sion of an of­fen­sive weapon.

He was re­leased on bail in the care of his moth­er but is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in court to­day.
