Thieves have made off with more than TT$1.3 million after breaking into an RBC Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in St Clair.

The RBC branch manager reported to police that around 9 am yesterday she received information from the Electronic Response Officer that there was unusual activity at the St Clair ATM.

Upon arrival around 10 am, the branch manager opened the ATM Room and found that the two ATMs were cut open and cash trays were thrown on the floor void of any cash.

The manager reported the findings to officers at the St Clair Police Station and police said the estimated loss was around $1.3 million in TT currency.

Woman Police Constable Parks visited the scene and found that entry into the ATMs was gained through a hole on the western side of the building, which they believe was also used as exit.

PCs Dhuram, Samaroo, Denny and WPC Pierera processed the scene.

Investigators said attempts to get CCTV footage were futile as the cameras at the location were non-functional.

RBC is yet to officially respond to the break-in.
