Tobago police are on the scene of the island's 11th murder where a woman was doused with gasoline and set on fire at Glen Eagles Drive Mt Irvine.

She has been identified as Janelle Thomas, 40, from Signal Hill.

A male suspect has been arrested.

Head of Tobago Police Division ACP Collis Hazel told Guardian Media it is a sad time for Tobago.

He said, "It was a domestic murder, the perpetrator has been arrested. We cannot get in the bedrooms of people where these things are happening. It's very saddening."

The Tobago murder toll has reached a record high in 2023. For the same period, the island recorded 10 murders. The toll has not crossed ten in almost a decade.

This is a developing story.
