T&T’s quartet of Trevaughn Stewart, Kadeem Chinapoo, Kaheem Chinapoo and Dylan Wodruffe recorded a time of 39.75 seconds to claim the silver medal in the Bpoys Under-20 4x100 metres relay event  during the 2025 CARIFTA Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain on Sunday night. The gold medal was won by Jamaica in 39.56 second with Barbados settling for the bronze medal behind 40.43 medals.

T&T’s Catherine Dieffenthaller won the first gold medal for her country when she touched the wall first to beat Antigua and Barbuda’s Ellie Shaw with a time of 2:44.08 seconds at the Carifta Aquatics Championships. Shaw secured the silver medal in 2:44.35 seconds, while Bahamian Eñyse Wood got bronze in 2:45.99.

While its cov­er­age of in­ter­na­tion­al sport, where­by it mere­ly re-broad­casts events be­ing cov­ered by our tele­vi­sion sta­tions, is a wel­come re­lief to the Caribbean com­mu­ni­ty, broad­casts for which it is sole­ly re­spon­si­ble have be­come the bane of our sport­ing ex­is­tence.

Last week, Trinidad and To­ba­go—and the wider foot­balling world—lost a gi­ant. Leo Been­hakker, the leg­endary Dutch coach who led our So­ca War­riors to the 2006 FI­FA World Cup, passed away at the age of 82. For many, he was the man who changed the course of our foot­balling his­to­ry. For me, he was a fig­ure who left a last­ing im­pres­sion—pro­fes­sion­al­ly and per­son­al­ly.

He topped the field in the 13-14 boys 100 breaststroke with victory in 1:10.64 seconds. He was followed to the wall by Bahamian Alexander Murray (1:11.10) and compatriot David Singh secured the bronze medal in 1:11.26 seconds.

T&T’s Catherine Dieffenthaller won the first gold medal for her country when she touched the wall first to beat Antigua and Barbuda’s Ellie Shaw with a time of 2:44.08 seconds at the Carifta Aquatics Championships. Shaw secured the silver medal in 2:44.35 seconds, while Bahamian Eñyse Wood got bronze in 2:45.99.
