Adam Alexander reigned supreme at Sunday's opening T&T Cycling Federation's Road Race from the Foreshore to Couva and back by taking the gold medal in the Elite Open category.
He was one of few riders that set off on a break from the main peloton from the Freeport flyover on the way to the finish line, before eventually crossing the finish in a time of two hours, 30 minutes and 03 seconds with hands raised high, pointing to the heavens to signal his achievement.
The Raiders rider was followed in the second position by Kemp Orosco of Team DPS and rising talent Enrique De Commarmond, a junior rider among the seniors, representing Team Pharmaco.
Alexander, a former national cyclist, later received nine points for his triumph while Orosco and De Commarmond were given seven and five points respectively, as points were awarded to the top six finishers.
De Commarmond though emerged with the most points at the end of the day's activities as he also collected five points for being the top junior cyclist to cross the finish.
He got the better of his close rival Rodell Woods of Team PSL. Meanwhile, Teniel Campbell did not disappoint in the Elite Ladies, as she sprinted to the finish first for the win and five points.
