Adam Alexan­der reigned supreme at Sun­day's open­ing T&T Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion's Road Race from the Fore­shore to Cou­va and back by tak­ing the gold medal in the Elite Open cat­e­go­ry.

He was one of few rid­ers that set off on a break from the main pelo­ton from the Freeport fly­over on the way to the fin­ish line, be­fore even­tu­al­ly cross­ing the fin­ish in a time of two hours, 30 min­utes and 03 sec­onds with hands raised high, point­ing to the heav­ens to sig­nal his achieve­ment.

The Raiders rid­er was fol­lowed in the sec­ond po­si­tion by Kemp Orosco of Team DPS and ris­ing tal­ent En­rique De Com­mar­mond, a ju­nior rid­er among the se­niors, rep­re­sent­ing Team Phar­ma­co.

Alexan­der, a for­mer na­tion­al cy­clist, lat­er re­ceived nine points for his tri­umph while Orosco and De Com­mar­mond were giv­en sev­en and five points re­spec­tive­ly, as points were award­ed to the top six fin­ish­ers.

De Com­mar­mond though emerged with the most points at the end of the day's ac­tiv­i­ties as he al­so col­lect­ed five points for be­ing the top ju­nior cy­clist to cross the fin­ish.

He got the bet­ter of his close ri­val Rodell Woods of Team PSL. Mean­while, Te­niel Camp­bell did not dis­ap­point in the Elite Ladies, as she sprint­ed to the fin­ish first for the win and five points.
