Bliss, in the 35 and Under Division, and Security Analyst Services (SAS), in the 54-60 Division, remained with their perfect 100 percent winning records from the six teams that went into their respective age-group matches when the Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) 8-A-Side Football Tournament continued at the Queen’s Park Oval, Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain on Friday (September 12).
In the 35 and Under Division, Bliss got a lone strike from Gary Griffith III to eke out 1-0 win over Full Barrell for a fourth win from as many matches for a maximum of 12 points, three clear of the previously perfect Aioli/Spirt Mas who went under to Food Drop via a similar 1-0 margin with Dillon Abraham on target for the winners.
In the other match in the 35 and Under category, Mini Bar got braces from John Murray and JC Patterson in their 5-1 spanking of WAM.
Ryan Daniel was also on target for Mini Bar in their first win in four matches, while the cellar-placed WAM got their consolation strike from Luke Darwent.
In the 54-60 Division, the older Gary Griffith Junior showed that he was as efficient in front of goal as his son, Gary Griffith III, when he also fired in the only goal in Security Analyst Services (SAS) 1-0 defeat of Fat Boys to extend their winning run to four matches for a maximum of 12 points to start their campaign, three points more than newcomers The Brix who got a pair of goals from tournament to-scorer Jeffrey Dalton-Brown, his seventh and eight strikes of the competition to blank Carpenter's Edge 2-0.
In the other matches in the 54-60 age-group, T-Rex won 1-against DFL with Anil Seeteram the scorer and last year's winners' M2Gear battled past BYD 1-0 thanks to a Peter Mansoor effort.
In the 36-45 Division, newcomer Rose ITSL saw their perfect start to the season end in a 2-1 loss to previously winless Kyra Investments.
For Kyra Investments, Troy Thompson and Kenneth Veck fired in a goal each to cancel out Rose ITSL's reply from Dereck Johnson.
Despite the loss, Rose ITSL stayed top of the eight-team table with nine points, two ahead of the quartet of Sheppard Securities, Renew, Micro Milling and defending champions Harts.
Overwatch stayed top of the 46-53 category courtesy a 2-0 defeat of previously unbeaten Earth Enerji with Larry Williams, and Brent Barry finding the back of the next to carry their points tally to ten from four matches, three more than debutants Jabb Jouvert who have a match in hand, while Earth Enerji slipped to third with six points, and a match in hand also.
Jabb Jouvert humbled Ready Freddie 2-0 with Ramon Lares banging in both goals.
In the 60 and Over Division, Khan's Poultry saw their perfect start ended in a goalless draw with Murphy Clarke, while Carib edged Steel Drum 2-1.
