T&T's Em-Miryam Campbell-Singh, Shiloh Walker and Naomi Mohammed put up a good fight against the Bahamas but went under, 2-1, on Tuesday in the International Tennis Federation/Confederation of Tennis of Central America and the Caribbean (ITF/COTECC) Junior Under-12 Tournament in the Dominican Republic.
Only the girls were in action for T&T as the boys' team of Connor Carrington, Brian Harricharan and Nirav Dougdeen, who swept St Lucia in both singles and doubles categories on Monday, had a rest day.
Taking on the Bahamas, their representative Briana Houlgrave got the better of Walker in straight sets 6-6, 6-2 for the 1-0 lead.
Campbell-Smith got T&T back on track as she levelled the score at 1-1 when she beat Tatyana Maduabychukwu 6-5 in the first set and in the second set with the score 5-5, the Bahamian retired hurt.
After that success, she teamed up with Naomi Mohammed to take on Kaylah Fox and Houlgrave in the Doubles. The first set went to the Bahamas with a 6-4 score. In the second set, T&T showed more fight coming back to win the set 4-6 and force a third and final set.
In the tiebreaker, Bahamas were too strong winning 10-3 to seal a hard-fought 2-1 win over T&T.
On Wednesday, the girls will be back in action against St Lucia and the boys will take on Jamaica.
